Master the Cycles: The Definitive Blueprint for Bitcoin Tops and Bottoms

1. The Core Laws of the Master Cycle
Before looking at a single chart, an investor must memorise the "Laws of Confluence" that govern market turns.
Law #1: USDT.D is the Final Confirmation. Tether Dominance (USDT.D) acts as the mirror to the market. If Bitcoin is forming a top, USDT.D will be forming a bottom.
Law #2: The Law of Opposites. Whatever structure appears in USDT.D—whether it is a MACD cross, a bullish divergence, or a breakout—Bitcoin will mirror it in the opposite direction.
Law #3: SMT (Smart Money Technique). This involves looking for "divergent" highs or lows between Bitcoin and other major assets like ETH, MSTR, or USDT.D. A "Bearish SMT" occurs when Bitcoin makes a higher high, but the companion asset makes a lower high, signalling whale distribution.
Law #4: The 10-Signal Rule. One signal is noise. Three signals are valid. Concluding a cycle peak or trough requires 7–10 aligned signals for high-conviction execution.
2. Detecting the Bull Cycle Top
Identifying a top is a multi-step process that begins only after a new All-Time High (ATH) has been established.
The MACD "Red Dot" Protocol
Technical research shows that MACD behaviour is the most reliable "Top Detector."
Local Tops: Bitcoin typically prints 2–3 Weekly Red Dots (bearish crossovers) before the final cycle high.
The 50 SMA Anchor: Each Weekly Red Dot tends to push the price down to the 50-Simple Moving Average (SMA) on the weekly timeframe. As long as the price bounces from the 50 SMA, the bull market is intact.
The Final Nail: The major cycle top is confirmed only when the 50 SMA Weekly breaks. This is the "last nail in the coffin".
The MACD Failure Signal
The most lethal signal of a final top is MACD divergence. If Bitcoin prints a new price high, but the MACD crossover lines fail to reach a higher high compared to the previous peak, distribution is complete, and a bear market is imminent.

3. Identifying the Bear Cycle Bottom
Investing in a bear market requires patience and adherence to the "retracement + timing" formula.
The Retracement Target
Historical data across three major cycles (2013, 2017, 2021) shows an average price dump of 82% from top to bottom. However, with the entrance of institutional liquidity, the "decrease calculation" suggests an average dump of 72.5%.
Safer Entry Zone: A 65%–70% correction from the ATH is the primary "Generational Buy Zone".
The Timing Blueprint
Time is just as important as price. Historically, it takes an average of 383 days from the Cycle Top to reach the Cycle Bottom.
Halving to Bottom: On average, a macro bottom occurs 886 days after the previous Halving event.
Technical Bottom Confirmations
Monthly Stoch RSI Reset: The Stochastic RSI must reach 0 on the monthly timeframe. A bullish crossover after a reset to 0 is a high-probability buy signal.
VRVP (Volume Profile): When the "Point of Control" (POC) shifts to the bottom of the range, it indicates that selling pressure is exhausted and whales are accumulating.
The Macro Reversal: The start of a new bull run is confirmed when Bitcoin crosses and holds above the 21-Weekly SMA with a strong candle close.
4. The Altcoin Season Formula
Altcoin seasons are brief windows of extreme profit. Identifying their start and end requires monitoring the Altcoin Season Index and OTHERS.D (Altcoin Dominance excluding the top 10).
The Buy Formula: When the Alt Season Index is between 10–20 and OTHERS.D is at 5–6%, the market is in a state of depression. This is the best time for "Smart Money" to load altcoins.
The Sell Formula: When the Alt Season Index hits 80–95, and OTHERS.D reaches 12–15%, the market is in a state of mania. This is the "Exit Zone" where retailers buy, and big players distribute.
5. Current Market Context (January 2026)
As of late January 2026, Bitcoin has corrected roughly 33% from its October 2025 peak of $126,000, currently trading near the $84,000 support level.
BTC Dominance: Remains high at 59%.
Altcoin Sentiment: The Altcoin Season Index is at 32, indicating we are currently in "Bitcoin Season".
Applying the Master Cycle rules, the current phase is one of selective institutional distribution rather than a generational bottom. Investors should wait for confluence—specifically, a Monthly Stoch RSI reset—before attempting to time the final bear-market floor.
The Golden Formula
$BTC\ TOP = (SMT\ Bearish) + (MACD\ Red\ Dot) + (USDT.D\ Bottom) + (Greed\ >\ 80)
$BTC\ BOTTOM = (Retracement\ >\ 70\%) + (Stoch\ RSI\ 0) + (USDT.D\ Top) + (Fear\ <\ 20)
