What is Spot Trading?
Spot trading means buying or selling crypto at the current market price for immediate settlement. You own the actual asset, unlike futures where you trade contracts.
Full Explanation
Spot trading is the most straightforward way to trade crypto — you buy at the current price and receive the asset immediately. No leverage, no expiration dates, no liquidation risk. When you buy BTC on CoinDCX, you're spot trading. The opposite is derivatives trading (futures, options) where you trade contracts that represent the asset. Beginners should start with spot trading before exploring leverage.
Example
Buying 0.01 BTC at ₹58,00,000 on CoinDCX costs ₹58,000 and you own that Bitcoin immediately.
