What is Private Key?
A private key is a secret cryptographic code that proves ownership of cryptocurrency and authorizes transactions. Whoever controls the private key controls the funds — never share it.
Full Explanation
A private key is a random 256-bit number (typically shown as a 64-character hex string) that serves as the "password" to your crypto. It mathematically corresponds to a public key/address. When you send crypto, your wallet uses the private key to digitally sign the transaction, proving you own the funds without revealing the key. The cardinal rule: "Not your keys, not your crypto." If someone else has your private key, they can steal your funds.
Example
A private key looks like: 5HueCGU8rMjxEXxiPuD5BDk... Never screenshot, email, or store it in plain text. Use a hardware wallet or encrypted backup.
