    What is Bitcoin Halving?

A Bitcoin halving cuts the mining reward in half every 210,000 blocks (~4 years). It reduces new BTC supply, historically triggering bull runs within 6-18 months.

    Full Explanation

Bitcoin halving is a programmed event where the block mining reward is cut in half every 210,000 blocks (approximately every 4 years). This ensures Bitcoin's supply decreases over time toward its 21 million cap. Halving history: 2012 (50→25 BTC), 2016 (25→12.5), 2020 (12.5→6.25), 2024 (6.25→3.125). Next halving: ~2028 (3.125→1.5625). Historically, each halving has preceded a major bull run within 12-18 months, as reduced supply meets constant/growing demand. The last Bitcoin will be mined around the year 2140.

    Example

After the April 2024 halving, Bitcoin rose from $64,000 to new all-time highs within a year, following the historical pattern of post-halving bull runs.
