Phase 1 Recap (For Phase 2 Intro)

Phase 1 was pure FOMO, bad decisions, and expensive lessons.

I entered crypto during the 2021 bull run with hype, confidence, and zero understanding of market cycles. An early DCA win gave me false confidence, which pushed me into my biggest mistake—taking a personal loan at market top.

When the 2022 bear market hit, prices collapsed, narratives died, and reality kicked in hard. The portfolio went 70–80% down while loan EMIs stayed constant. Metaverse hype, old-cycle coins, and blind conviction turned into long-term damage.

Phase 1 didn’t just cost money.
Its broke confidence, exposed lack of risk management, and forced me to step away from the market completely.

This was the phase where I learned what NOT to do.

Phase 2: Bear Market Sanyaas & the Great Portfolio Rotation (2022 – Mid 2023)

Debt, Depression & the Slow Bleed (2022)

If Phase 1 was stupidity with confidence, Phase 2 was punishment with interest.

    This wasn’t a “healthy correction.”
This was a full-scale bear market execution.

    • Portfolio: bleeding every week

    • Reality: Personal Loan EMI hitting every month

    • Mindset: stuck between regret and helplessness

The loan taken at peak had now become a financial noose. Markets don’t care about your conviction, and banks don’t care about your drawdown.

With no capital left to deploy, I did the only sensible thing—
    👉 I stepped away.

For 6–8 months, I stopped looking at charts completely.
    No “buy the dip.”
    No fake optimism.
Just news, macro awareness, and mental survival.

    This wasn’t discipline.
This was forced detox after overdose.

    ⚠️ Mistake Highlight – Phase 2

    Mistake #1: No Emergency Buffer
I had put myself in a position where market loss = life stress.
    That should never happen.

    Lesson Learned:
If market volatility affects your sleep or EMIs — you are overexposed.

The USDT Crash: Exchange Risk Slap

In the middle of this bear market, another bomb dropped.

    Globally, markets were relatively stable.
But on Indian exchanges, USDT liquidity went to hell.

USDT prices crashed locally — not because of crypto,
but because of exchange-level liquidity chaos.

That was the moment it hit me:

“I’m not just exposed to market risk…
I’m exposed to exchange risk too.”

This single incident permanently killed my trust in Indian exchanges.

    Decision Made:
    👉 Indian exchanges = exit
    👉 International exchanges = future

Mistake #2: Ignoring Exchange Risk Earlier
I treated exchanges like neutral pipes.
    They are not.

    Lesson Learned:
Where you keep your money matters as much as what you buy.

Mid-2023: The Break-even Window (Rare Opportunity)

By early-to-mid 2023, the market showed early signs of life.
Nothing euphoric — just enough green to breathe again.

My portfolio crawled back to near break-even (small loss).

This is where most people make a new mistake:

“Bas thoda aur upar jaaye, phir sell karunga.”

    I didn’t.

Instead, I asked a brutal question:
Do these coins deserve my next 2–3 years?

    The honest answer was NO.

The Hardest Decision: Killing Dead Bags

    Coins like:

    • Metaverse hype tokens

    • Old-cycle favourites (ADA, MATIC types)

    They weren’t “cheap.”
    They were structurally weak.

    No fresh narrative.
    No relative strength.
    No leadership.

So I did something emotionally painful but logically clean:

    👉 Sold everything.
    👉 Accepted small losses.
    👉 Reset the entire portfolio.

Years of holding — gone in one decision.

    This wasn’t panic selling.
    This was capital liberation.

Mistake #3: Holding Losers Too Long
I held coins longer than they deserved — just because I had history with them.

    Lesson Learned:
    Markets don’t reward loyalty.
    They reward adaptation.

Migration & the Security Mindset Shift

After exiting, I moved funds fully to international exchanges.

But one more mindset shift happened here:

    Earlier goal:
    ❌ “Paisa double kaise ho?”

    New goal:
    ✅ “Paisa bache kaise?”

    First purchase after migration?
    👉 Hardware Wallet.

Because after 2022, I finally understood:

    • If you survive, opportunities will come

    • If you blow up, the market moves on without you

    Phase 2 – Core Learnings (Hard-Won)

    Phase 2 wasn’t about profits.
It was about survival, humility, and reset.

    What I truly learned:

    • Debt + volatility = disaster

    • Exchange risk is real

    • Cash is a position

    • Cutting losers is not failure

    • Capital preservation comes before growth

This phase stripped ego, illusions, and fake confidence.

If Phase 1 broke me financially,
    Phase 2 rebuilt my thinking.
