What is Nonce?
In crypto, a nonce is a number used once — either to sequence your transactions on Ethereum or as part of the mining puzzle in Proof of Work blockchains.
Full Explanation
Nonce has two meanings in crypto: (1) Transaction nonce: a counter that tracks the order of transactions from your wallet. If your nonce is 5, the next transaction must be nonce 6. Stuck transactions often result from nonce gaps. (2) Mining nonce: in Proof of Work, miners try different nonce values to find a block hash below the difficulty target — this is what "mining" actually computes.
