    What is Meme Coin?

Meme coins are cryptocurrencies created around internet jokes or cultural memes, with value driven by community hype rather than fundamental utility. Dogecoin and Shiba Inu are the most famous.

    Full Explanation

Meme coins are cryptocurrencies that originate from internet memes or pop culture, with value primarily driven by community sentiment, social media virality, and speculation rather than technical innovation. Dogecoin (2013, Shiba Inu dog meme) was the first; Shiba Inu, PEPE, BONK, and WIF followed. Meme coins can deliver 100x+ gains but also crash 99%. They are among the riskiest crypto investments — most go to zero. Never invest more than you can afford to lose in meme coins.

    Example

Dogecoin started as a joke but reached a $90 billion market cap in 2021 after Elon Musk's tweets. Most meme coins don't have this staying power.
