What is Layer 1 Blockchain?
लेयर 1A Layer 1 is the base blockchain — like Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, or Avalanche. It handles consensus, security, and final settlement of transactions.
Full Explanation
Layer 1 (L1) refers to the base blockchain network that processes and finalizes transactions. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, and Cardano are all L1s. Each L1 makes tradeoffs between decentralization, security, and scalability (the "blockchain trilemma"). Bitcoin prioritizes security and decentralization. Solana prioritizes speed. Ethereum uses Layer 2s to scale. When evaluating an L1, check: TPS (transactions per second), finality time, decentralization (validator count), and ecosystem size (TVL, developer activity).
